The concept of a growth mindset was developed by psychologist Carol Dweck. According to Dweck, individuals with a growth mindset see failures and setbacks as opportunities to learn and grow. They embrace challenges and persist through obstacles, believing that effort and practice can lead to success. 

In contrast, those with a fixed mindset believe that their abilities and talents are set in stone. They tend to avoid challenges and give up easily in the face of setbacks. They also tend to view criticism as a personal attack rather than an opportunity to learn.
